Tyldesley 10 Stretford 13
TYLDESLEY pushed reigning Bolton and District Water Polo champions Stretford all the way but eventually fell to a loss by three goals.
In the first quarter, Stretford took an early two-goal advantage before efforts by Lee Toone, Jonathan Stafford and Adam Toone drew the game level.
The second quarter followed in similar fashion with Stretford leading 6-4 and Tyldesley fighting back to bring the game level at at half time thanks to goals from Stafford, two, and John Fletcher.
Stafford scored twice and Peter Harrison once as the third quarter continued to be as tight as the previous two with Stretford taking a narrow one-goal lead.
The final quarter saw the exclusion of Lucas McNulty and Rob Bond for their third personal fouls, which weakened the team considerably and despite Lee Toone’s goal Stretford managed to pull away and win.
The young Tyldesley team made considerable progress this year and both teams were applauded from the pool by spectators after a competitive fixture.
