GRACE Morley scored a last-minute equaliser to complete a superb fightback by Tyldesley Ladies water polo team, who drew 13-13 with Mid Sussex Marlins in the British Water Polo league Division One Championships at Luton on Saturday.
Slow off the mark after having to change on the minibus after being delayed en route, they trailed 3-2 at the end of the first quarter in which Lucy Aspinall and Morley were the scorers.
The pair scored two goals apiece in the second quarter which ended with the Marlins 7-6 ahead.
A disastrous third quarter saw Leanne Stafford excluded from the match and Marlins outscore Tyldesley 4-1 and at 11-7 in the final quarter it looked all over for the local girls.
Tyldesley staged a terrific fightback with Hayley Price outstanding as goalkeeper and Josephine Costello excluded before Morley's salvaged a draw.
Scorers: Morley (seven), Aspinall (four), Jo Costello and Sam Grundy.
The following day Tyldesley were unlucky to lose 4-3 to a strong Penquin side - two penalty misses proving costly.
Scorers: Costello (two) and Morley.
