TEAM Leigh boxer Josh Waterworth won his second consecutive North West Region title at Eccles on Saturday.

Boxing in the England Junior National Championships, the 14-year-old light flyweight put on an impressive display to clearly outpoint Shaun McManus, of Wythenshawe.

Also appearing in the NW flyweight final, Harry Winnard was unlucky to lose to Tyler Wilson, of Whitehaven, on a split decision, despite a dominant third round.

In support bouts, 11-year-old Wes Holding outpointed Flynn Wilson, of Timperley, while 11-year-old Ben Follows suffered his first defeat with a split decision loss to Hakim Alam, of Moss Side.

Connor Winstanley, aged 11, lost on points to Jayden Franklin, of Burnley, while 10-year-old Joey Hart was impressive in his first skills bout.

On Friday, middleweight Rory Roberts made his first appearance in a Team Leigh vest for more than seven years and was just edged out on points by Steffan Baxter, of Yorkshire-based Hebden Bridge.

Meanwhile, Waterworth and 15-year-old lightweight Josh Taylor have been selected for the England Junior training camp this weekend.
