THERE was plenty to celebrate at Tyldesley Water Polo Club this week after the men's senior team was reinstated in the national league and two young players were called up by Team GB.

Grace Rowlands and Hayley Price have been selected to represent the British Under-17s team at a tournament in Nice, France, this weekend, with the winners qualifying for the European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan, later this year.

The club's commitment to developing young players, such as Grace and Hayley, is understood to have helped their bid to be reinstated in the British Water Polo League.

Tyldesley's application was accepted last week after a three-year absence, with the team rejoining in Division Five for the forthcoming season, which starts in September.

The club's ladies team is currently competing in Division Two of the BWPL.

Elsewhere, Tyldesley remain unbeaten in the Bolton and District Water Polo League after bouncing back from a 5-5 draw at Fleetwood last week with a 19-4 win at home to Manchester Sharks.

Addison Brown led the scoring with four goals, while Adam Toone and Rob Bond both claimed hat-tricks, Austin Lawley, Chris Hughes, Jonathan Stafford and Tyler Turner all scored twice and Aaron Royle bagged one.

The club's young swimmers also won in the Junior Jubilee League, scoring 140 points to beat off competition from hosts Howe Bridge and Radcliffe.
