TYLDESLEY rounded off a superb season with a 45-7 win at Trentham.

The victory underlined their second-placed finish behind Liverpool Collegiate after going through their campaign with just four defeats.

They also did just enough to get over the 1,000 points barrier, with a late try taking the club to 1,005 points for the season.

Second-bottom Trentham defied their league position by controlling possession for long spells of the first half.

But prop forward Andy McEntee finally broke their resistance, taking three defenders over the line with him to claim an unconverted try after running on to a Dean Brown pass.

The score remained 5-0 to Tyldesley going into the final 20 minutes before the floodgates opened.

Gavin Hunter crossed over out wide following a strong scrum and Connor Johnson converted the try with a delightful kick.

Damien Twizell then finished off a flowing move for his first try of the season, converted by Martin Wallbank, before Lee Davies added another give points.

Trentham hit back with a converted try of their own, only for Tyldesley to score another three converted tries in the final six minutes.

Dickinson crossed after collecting a Carl Redford kick, before Redford went over himself and then Wallbank found space to take the visitors over the 1,000 point mark.

It was the final effort of a remarkable season that saw Tyldesley finish the final 23 games unbeaten.
