THERE was plenty of reason to celebrate at Bolton Wanderers' Macron Stadium as a whole host of young footballers excelled at the finals weekend of the Bolton, Bury and District Football League.

Four local sides were crowned champions while another two made the league showpiece and the chance to play in the Championship stadium.

Atherton Town had three winners, two in the same age category.

Their Thunder team beat Bury Juniors in the under-11s Players Cup final while the Storm overcame CMB in the u11s Chairman's Cup. The Panthers claimed the u14s Chairman's Cup with a 3-1 win against Moorside Rangers.

Leigh United Tigers' under-12s side continued their unbelievable season with a 4-1 victory over Brandlesholme Warriors Reds in the Players Cup final.

The Tigers won the u12s Division C title after winning 18 of their 19 games before making it to the finals weekend for the second straight season.

Elsewhere, Pennington Predators and Atherton Town Youth lost their Chairman's Cup finals in the u15s and u16s, respectively.
