LEIGH Miners Rangers remain in the top five of the NCL Premier Division despite not playing this weekend.
Wigan St Patricks moved above them into top spot following a 40-22 victory at home to Egremont Rangers.
But defeats for title rivals East Leeds and Lock Lane and a draw for Hull Dockers at West Hull kept Miners just two points off the summit with two games in hand.
With no first-team game at the weekend, Miners’ Alliance side took centre stage.
They maintained their unbeaten record at fellow high-fliers Rochdale Mayfield, making the best of the blustery conditions to win 40-24.
Connor Partington scored four tries and Joe Harrison two as Chris Snape’s team kept to within a point of reserve league leaders Orrell St James.
The first team return to action on Saturday with a trip to Millom in the second round of the Conference Cup.
