ASTLEY and Tyldesley Cycle Speedway junior Max Evans has just been crowned Under-13s Northern Area Individual champion.

He was part of a team of seven Gin Pit riders who competed in the finals at Hull last Sunday.

In the u10s category, heat three proved to be a decider when John White dropped his only points to eventual winner, Jack Brownell of Sheffield, to score 19 points and take second place overall.

Joe Quarmby scored 17 and finished fourth overall while Charlie Burgess raced hard from a tricky draw to pick up 14 points for his efforts.

In the u13s saw Emily Burgess and Max Evans ride for Team Green.

Emily, being the youngest and only girl turned in a fabulous set of results, picking up a terrific win heat 3 against tough opposition, finishing with a creditable 13 points.

Meanwhile heat nine proved to be the decider for Max Evans and when he passed him at the end of lap three it was enough for the maximum 20 points and victory too.

Also in action, Reece Pollitt raced to two wins in the U-19s class and he finished with a score of 11.

Mark Mulvey was the lone A&T rider in the Veterans match.

He recorded two firsts, a second and a third to bring home 13 points – just missing out on a rostrum placing.

Elsewhere, A&T were crowned Manchester League Division Two champions after successfully defending their title after sealing five wins from five this season.
