STOCKPORT claimed their sixth successive Northern League Division One title at Gin Pit on Saturday as they recorded a 99-76 victory over Astley and Tyldesley.

A&T took an early lead in their final home match of the season and were 11-8 up after two races.

Race exclusions followed for Reece Pollitt and Lee Phillips in the next two races and Stockport took a lead they never surrendered.

Damian Zareba turned in a great performance for A&T, though, starting from the less favourable grids and pulling off some superb passes.

His only defeat was at the hands of former British champion Terry Norman in the last heat.

Zareba's best support came from Pollitt and team manager Paul Graham.

Stockport conceded 57 penalty points after fielding three ineligible riders for the Division Two match.

A&T's youngsters quickly piled up the points necessary to secure the match victory, running out 123-84 winners..

A&T also ran out convincing winners in the Division Three match, easily seeing off Stockport by 134-26.

Charlie Burgess and newcomer Bliss Meakin top scored for Team Green.

A&T remain at the top of the table and will clinch the league title for the third year running if they win their final match at Heckmondwike next Sunday.

The club enjoyed a terrific night of success at the Believe Wigan Sports Awards, taking four honours.

They scooped the big prize of Club of the Year in their 25th anniversary season.

Social secretary and assistant team manager Janine Paine won Volunteer of the Year, junior team manager Will Evans took runners-up spot in the Coach of the Year category, and A&T's junior cycle speedway team were awarded third place in the Team of the Year.
