LEIGH Cricket Club won the ECB Liverpool Comp Premier League for the first time in their history on a fantastic afternoon at Beech Walk on Saturday.

With one eye on the score at second and third placed Formby v Nothern, Leigh did what they had to and beat Wallasey with a comfortable 9 wicket victory. Mattie McKiernan starred again with 6 wickets before Luis Reece and Karl Brown finished the job off, unbeaten on 70 and 32.

At that stage though, second placed Northern were 65-4 and looked on course to reach the 124 runs required to take the title race into the last game of the season.

A packed Leigh clubhouse watched on as the updates came in and wickets tumbled. Northern lost their remaining 6 wickets for just 26 runs and Leigh were confirmed as Champions.

Tom Fosters men will be presented with the trophy this Saturday when they travel to Rainford for the final match of the season.

The following day the Under 13s won the Wigan and District Cup Final with a convincing victory over Sutton and the Women's 1st XI were crowned Cheshire Division 3 champions for the second season in succession to complete a memorable season for the Beech Walk club.
