TYLDESLEY will enjoy the Christmas break after claiming a fifth bonus point win on the spin, who are now just two points adrift and a game in hand on current league leaders Hoylake and a point behind second placed Liverpool Collegiate, both of which are Bongs opponents in their first two outings of the new year.

This was by far the toughest, of their recent wins, against a resilient and physical side, despite a great start which had Damien Twizell finish off some controlled forward play, with just over two minutes gone, conversion missed.

Not long after, Moor, put some good phases together and pulled three back through a converted penalty.

From this point it was practically all Tyldesley, but further points proved hard to come by which didn’t represent their dominance, by the half way point.

A dropped ball over the line and an incorrect decision denied the hosts two tries and with a few other things not going to plan, some frustration was starting to creep in.

Finally, better execution reaped reward with two more scores in the last quarter of the half, but they had to work hard for them both against a side, which had been reduced to fourteen.

Tyldesley made hard yards towards the visitor’s line, for Zack Sargent to hit a great ball from Conor Norton, for a good score, Paul Martin Converted.

Adam Fetherston recorded a third Tyldesley try, after more slow but solid yards, pushed Moor back, conversion missed, giving them a 17-3 interval lead.

With Moor, anything but out of this contest, most would have been excused for thinking back to September, when these sides last met, and despite having the lion’s share, Tyldesley lost by one point, having surrendered the lead three times.

An early yellow for Bongs along and a much improved start from Moor put the home defence under pressure for the first twenty of the second half, which had many feeling nervy, although a gritty and determined defence held out, which slowly started to build confidence and belief.

With around seventeen remaining the tide started to turn, as Tyldesley got the break trough they were looking for and needed.

A superb break from Fetherston, supported by Mark Dickinson had the ball move out to Luke Dufeu who left all behind, on route to the line, has he touched down for a very important forth try.

Moor, by now, started too look a bit tired and disjointed, conceded another score four minutes later.

Young debutant, Danny Berrisford, read a good kick from Dickinson straight from a scrum, and beat the cover, for a great score, Martin converted both.

With the game now secured, Bongs pressed for more points. Yet again, solid scrummaging set the platform, with Dickinson producing a perfect miss pass, towards Berrisford, who capped a good first outing, with a second score in the corner.

MOM Adam Fetherston

Tyldesley Seconds, made it a fantastic ending, to what was a very, very tough start to 2016, by sitting top of their league, after making it 12 from 12, with a brilliant 69-5 win against Vale of lune.
