TWIST Lane played host to a double header on Saturday as the Miners Rangers open age entertained Chorley and Hindley in back-to-back friendly matches.

With the NCL league season just over a week away the run-outs proved successful as the Miners teams recorded convincing wins with a 40-4 win over Chorley and then a 52-6 defeat of Hindley.

Attention now turns to the opening league fixtures on 4th March as the NCL team entertain Kells at Twist Lane (2.30pm) and the Alliance team begin their First Division campaign at Bamber Bridge on the same day.

On Sunday the under-18s travelled to Waterhead in the BARLA National Youth Cup and were edged out in a high-scoring match 34-30 by their Oldham-based opponents.
