PACK enforcer Jamie Acton misses tomorrow’s derby date at Warrington but fears a much longer absence from the game.

Leigh successfully applied for a time extension to prepare Acton’s case against his Grade F charge following an incident with Catalans’ Greg Bird during last Saturday’s defeat in Perpignan.

The RFL’s highest possible disciplinary tariff carries a minimum eight match suspension and Acton will now answer the charge at Red Hall on Tuesday, July 11.

As part of their request for a weeks’ adjournment, Leigh agreed not to include the 25-year-old London born prop against the Wire.

Footage of Acton appearing to grab the shirt of Bird, lift him and push him back to the floor while he lay injured was widely shared on social media.

He was subsequently charged with an offence of “other contrary behaviour.”

Next Tuesday’s hearing will be Acton’s fifth trip to RL HQ this season.

The former South Wales Scorpion, Oldham and Workington forward has served three separate one game suspensions in 2017. Acton was also found guilty in a fourth case but escaped a ban, receiving only a £300 fine.

After his last appearance-for tripping Wigan winger, Liam Marshall, the tribunal was told: “Coaching staff working with the player to eradicate ill-discipline.”

Centre Ben Crooks is also unavailable to face Warrington after copping a second suspension within five weeks.

The on loan Castleford star pleaded guilty to a punching violation during the 40-38 defeat to Catalans and has been banned for one game.

The absences of Acton and Crooks forces head coach Neil Jukes into more squad rotation.

It could also lead to newcomer Daniel Mortimer making his Super League debut at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

The former Cronulla Sharks half back landed in England last week to start his two-and-a-half-year contract.

Mortimer, the 2009 NRL rookie of the year when he played for Parramatta, travelled with Centurions to France last weekend after being named in Jukes’ initial 19-man squad.

In the end he didn’t feature due to a tight calf but is ready to put pressure on Josh Drinkwater and Ben Reynolds.

Tongan international, Samisoni Langi, is also now in the country after last month’s release by Penrith Panthers.

*Referee Scott Mikalauskas takes charge of tomorrow’s game that sees Leigh four points behind their hosts but 22-8 winners when the teams met at Leigh Sports Village last March.

Warrington have to win to stand any chance of squeezing into the Super 8’s rather than a Middle 8s scrap with Leigh for their Super League status.
