LEIGH Amateur Boxing Club has an open door.
Head coach Adrian Fleming, who has worked the corner for fight stars such as world title challenger Matthew Hatton and USBA champion Tim Coleman, says anyone can get involved with training at the Leigh Boxing and Fitness Centre in Wigan Road.
He has been at the helm for the crowning of 19 champions in eight years but the gym is for those without any experience as well as those already recognised as talents.
“We’re here for the community as a whole, any person of any age or talent,” said Fleming.
Training sessions are Monday to Thursday, 5pm to 7.30pm, £2.50 for seniors and £1.50 for juniors.
Fleming, a professional coach with Hatton Promotions, described his recent time in New York as an ‘unblievable experience.’ He was in the corner with trainer Lee Beard as Baltimore-based contender Tim ‘The Pitbull’ Coleman defeated New York’s Mike Arnaoutis over 12 rounds to lift the United States light welterweight title live on television in Manhattan.
Coleman prepares for fights at the Hatton Gym in Hyde.
