SIX Co-operative Championships players have been suspended after the RFL Disciplinary Committee found the players guilty of committing offences during the final round of Northern Rail Cup games.

York City Knights loose forward Ryan Esders has been given a four match suspension and a £50 fine after the RFL Disciplinary Committee found him guilty of two incidents during his sides Northern Rail Cup clash with Keighley Cougars.

Esders has received a three match ban for a Grade C offence committed in the 52nd minute of the game in which he placed unnecessary pressure on an opponent’s limb in a manner that involved an unacceptable risk of injury. Esders was then handed a further one match ban for the Grade B offence of punching in the 65th minute of the same game.

Featherstone Rovers player Tony Tonks has received a two match ban and a £50 fine after the RFL Disciplinary Committee found him guilty of a Grade B offence for making dangerous contact in the 44th minute of his side’s Northern Rail Cup clash with Widnes Vikings.

Sheffield Eagles centre, Menzie Yere received a one match ban and a £50 fine after he was found guilty of a Grade C high tackle during his side’s Northern Rail Cup clash with Hunslet Hawks Batley Bulldogs hooker Kris Lythes received a one match band and a £50 fine after he was found guilty of a Grade B head butting offence in the 76th minute of Batley’s 26-25 victory over Halifax in the Northern Rail Cup.

Rochdale Hornets prop Dave Newton also received a one match ban and a £50 fine for a Grade B offence of striking an opponent with a forearm in the 5th minute of his side’s clash with Doncaster RLFC . Doncaster’s Jamie Bovill has also been suspended for one match with a £50 fine for committing a Grade B head butting offence also in the 5th minute of the same contest.
