LEIGH Leopards coach Adrian Lam expressed pride in his players after the 12-man Leopards beat winless Wakefield 30-4 at Magic Weekend in Newcastle.

Lachlan Lam earned a brace of tries for the Leopards as they extended their winning run to seven games in all competitions and moved into fourth place in the Betfred Super League table.

However, they were forced to do so a player down for most of the match after Ben Reynolds was sent off in the 26th minute for lashing out at David Fifita.

At one point Leigh were down to 11 men when Tom Nisbet was sent to the sin-bin 10 minutes before the break and Lam described his side's defence in that period as "unbelievable".

Leigh Journal:

"I think you can plan all week on the opposition preparing a game plan but when you go down to 12 men for 60 minutes it completely changes," Lam said.

"Down to 11 men with the last 10 minutes before half-time where we defended our line, I thought that was a really special moment for us as a club.

Leigh Journal:

"In hindsight, looking back now, you can't train those moments and it's about having trust in each other, I thought the way we scrambled in that period was unbelievable, so I'm really proud of them for that."

Leigh Journal:

Lam said it was disappointing to see Reynolds sent off in the first half.
"(Reynolds is) devastated, really upset after the fact he realises that he put himself in a position there to be dealt the way that it was," Lam added.

Leigh Journal:

"I was disappointed as well, it's not who we've been as a team this year there's no excuse for that.
