LEIGH climbed to second place in Super League, completing a seasonal; double over Hull KR with a slick, six-try display to win 34-4.

Leopards’ return to winning ways in front of the Sky TV cameras took Adrian Lam’s side above Warrington and Wigan on points difference.

Leigh’s latest success was their highest score of a campaign that keeps on hitting new heights of excellence.

The home side broke the visitors in the opening period, leading 22-0. And it was 34-0 before Mikey Lewis notched a consolation touchdown for Willie Peters’ team.

Stand-off Lewis suffered a start to forget, putting the kick-off directly into touch and then suffering a second minute sin binning.

Lewis needlessly slid in on Tom Briscoe as the winger shepherded the ball out of play behind his own touchline.

That left referee Marcus Griffiths little option but to brandish a yellow card. And Leopards took full advantage of the extra man.

Briscoe grounded Gareth O’Brien’s floated pass despite Tanguy Zenon’s attempted tackle after 10 minutes.

Two minutes later Lachlan Lam pierced the Rovers’ line and Edwin Ipape ran the ball in from 30 yards, sliding over on the wet turf to elude Ryan Hall’s grasp. Ben Reynolds converted one of his two attempts.

Despite Lewis’s return, the Robins conceded again to the rampant hosts after 18 minutes. John Asiata and Lam combined and Ed Chamberlain shrugged off some lightweight tackling to claim his third try in two games.

Rovers were the authors of their own demise but the uprights kept them in contention. Reynolds hit the posts for a second time after a head shot on Tom Amone led to a failed 22-minute penalty.

Leigh appeared unlucky not to score a third try 10 minutes from half-time. Charnley dabbed down after Ricky Leutele’s thundering tackle forced a loose ball close to the visitors’ line. Instead, referee Griffiths adjudged the centre’s challenge an illegal one.

Charnley and Leigh need not have worried. Reynolds’ 40/20 set-up a new attacking position and the one-time Rovers loanee dived in for his 20th of the campaign.

In between, Jack Hughes made his first appearance in 11 games after calf trouble though skipper Asiata made way with injury.

Leigh put the game beyond doubt 10 minutes into the second half. Matt Parcell tackled Leutele without the ball and referee Griffiths awarded a penalty try.

Man of the match Mulhern added try number six after 66 minutes with Reynolds landing his fifth goal before Lewis prevented a whitewash nine minutes from time.
