LEIGH hit the road this week for a potentially season defining series of away games head coach Adrian Lam is ready to embrace.

The Leopards face a minimum of five trips, including four in Super League, starting with Friday’s search for a seasonal double over Castleford.

That run could stretch to six should they beat St Helens in the Challenge Cup semi-final at Warrington.

A Wembley final against Wigan or Hull KR is up for grabs to the winners on August 12 with Leigh not due to return home until August 19 when leaders Catalans Dragons come to town.

“The next four weeks are going to be pretty hectic,” agreed Lam whose side tackle the Tigers second in the table after a 34-4 win over Hull KR.

“But there have been crucial parts all away along. We haven’t been able to say, ‘this is going to be easy here.’”

Castleford are second bottom of the table, just four points clear of Wakefield.

“It is tough going there anyway regardless of where they sit on the ladder,” insisted Lam. “They have some quality players so it will be another challenge for us.

“But we have travelled well this season and are probably up there with those teams who have won the most games away from home.”

Of Leigh’s six defeats, three have been away from Leigh Sports Village: at leaders Catalans (twice) and Warrington.

After visiting the Jungle, Leopards head to Salford (July 16), Warrington for the cup date against Saints on July 22, Wigan on July 29, Leeds on August 6 and then a possible first Wembley appearance since 1971.

Leigh’s fabulous front row of Tom Amone-who made his 50th club appearance against Rovers- Edwin Ipape and Robbie Mulhern were named in Super League’s team of the week for round 17.

Mulhern could be a doubt for Friday after suffering a rib injury while scoring the Leopards’ final try.

But captain John Asiata is expected to have shaken off a shoulder issue that forced him off against the Robins.

After successful returns last week for Jack Hughes and Ben Nakubuwai, this next outing could see Joe Wardle face one of his former clubs after a lengthy absence with a bicep tear.

Tom Nisbet is available after completing a two-match ban while Tigers will be without influential front rower, Liam Watts, starting his own two game suspension.

However, Hull KR’s Mikey Lewis escaped any punishment following his second minute yellow card for sliding into Tom Briscoe and deliberately delaying a quick re-start.
