IN response to the letter from Val Johnson, which gives a misleading picture of the work Mosley Common councillors have undertaken.
We take the issue of the bus services very seriously and have worked with several residents in Mosley Common.
The transport network was privatised by the Conservatives and the companies are reluctant to operate a service with little or no profit.
Nevertheless, in 2012 the councillors instigated several meetings with TfGM in order to rectify the lack of service on weekday evenings and Sundays, which led to the extension of the number 597 from Leigh to Boothstown via Mosley Common.
We also put a leaflet through every door in Mosley Common to advise of the positive development. With regards to the guided busway and the stop on Sale Lane, ward councillors are working closely with TfGM to ensure that all Mosley Common residents get the benefit from the busway with feeder services.
