FOR some time we have been told by the Government and local councillors we have to make the roads safer for cyclists.

How about a new campaign to make it safer for pedestrians and motorists from cyclists?

I cannot believe the number of times recently that I have seen cyclists ride round blind corners on pavements at speed and the number I have seen go through red traffic lights.

This morning I was going for my paper in my car at 8.30am as I do every week.

I was coming off the estate and was met by hundreds of cyclists.

It appeared they were on a charity cycle ride. It took 25 minutes to get off our estate to the other side of the road. None of them were willing to let me out.

When I got to the side of the road I wanted to go I was met by packs of them coming down my side of the road. None of them would give way and I had to swerve out of the way several times. It is time these charity rides were marshalled much better.

Also, judging from my experiences, it is time cyclists were made to take some sort of test and possibly made to have some sort of insurance.
