WITH regards to your story about the possible closures of adult day centres, my 90-year-old mother actually uses one of these centres and, but for these centres, my mother would hardly ever get out of the house during the week.
We, her children, do our best at the weekends but she actually looks forward to going to the day centre and misses going on bank holidays when they are closed.
Our old don’t need locking in their homes, they need interaction and activities to help keep their minds active and preserve their social skills.
I think it is ludicrous that they should even think about closing these.
The people making these decisions need to remember they may need care sooner than they think.
