ONCE again we have a farcical situation through Tyldesley that defies logic.
Not so long ago Astley Street closed for months to put new pipes in.
We have had Hough Lane closed since April, not to reopen until December, then in February Astley Street closes again for five months.
All for a busway no one wants, I have yet to meet anyone who intends to leave their car at home and walk to whereever the bus stops are to get to Manchester (not any quicker). This bus route has been in progress for what seems like years and is nowhere near finished.
Tyldesley town centre is like a ghost town already and will only get worse with this bus lane, traffic is horrendous.
In 1894 the Manchester Ship Canal had started to be built, it took six years to construct the 36 miles, this was built with pick and shovel and hard labour.
No diggers and JCBs. Maybe a few barrows.
The bus lane is only about four miles to Ellenbrook from Leigh and it's taking forever, what a mess.
