OUR pet of the week is four-year-old Alfie, who lives with primary school teaching assistant Amy Hawkins, 23, and her mum Sara and dad John in Leigh.
Amy, of Alpine Drive, said: “We think Alfie is a bearded collie but we got him as a Shetland sheepdog-shih tzu cross.
"He is extremely loving, loyal and intelligent and he loves barking at dogs on the telly.
“He is also afraid of the microwave – he runs upstairs every time we switch it on!”
Last year Alfie won the waggiest tail first prize in a dog competition at Pennington Park, and the family were so proud that they commemorated his victory by displaying his rosette on his picture on their wall.
If you want your pet to feature send a photograph of them with your name and contact details, including a daytime telephone number, and some information about your pet to newsdesk@leighjournal.co.uk.
