THE proposed demolition of Atherton’s much-used Formby Hall, which takes up a very small footprint, is a step too far.

Even Cllr Mark Aldred is dismayed but concludes ‘we must move forward’.

Where to, Mark, and why should we?

I believe council leader Lord Peter Smith is having a hissy fit because MP Chris Green dared fight against this typical, undemocratic decision.

As an MP, he was doing the job he was elected for.

May I suggest that if you are as angry as I am at this further reduction in Atherton’s facilities that you grit your teeth and vote for anyone but Labour at the next local election.

Vote Labour in the General Election if you must, but let us change this storm-trooping council as soon as possible.

Our library will probably be next to go.

It is a pity there are residents in Atherton at all – they would be able to demolish the lot otherwise.
