I FEEL I need to write this letter after reading a comment on social media.

Talking about the proposed move of Atherton Jobcentre, which is a government streamlining idea not the council’s, Mr Anderson asks: “When are we going to see Labour councillors?”

It is a pity that Mr Anderson did not contact the council personally – there are many ways to do this – rather than going to a Facebook option.

I would like to point out what Labour’s councillors and team have been doing.

Firstly we spoke to the spokesman for the service.

Secondly if this gentleman had been in the town centre recently he would have seen that myself, Cllr Martin Aldred, Julie Hilling and our colleagues and residents have been gathering signatures on Market Street regarding this matter on numerous occasions.

We have regular surgeries where any questions can be asked directly and any comments can be made.

Surgery details are advertised.
