A RECENT front page story in the Journal was headlined ‘transport bosses vow to consider building station’.

In the article Lowton East Cllr James Grundy said: “We have been too busway focused and it has not resolved all our problems.”

So has someone been conning us all along about the busway?

Millions of pounds have been spent on it and we were told it would bring people into Leigh to shop from Manchester.

Where are they?

We were told it would take traffic off the roads but it has caused traffic congestion, turning a lot of roads into nightmares at rush hour and taking a number of buses away from Astley.

Now if people from Astley and Tyldesley want to go to Bolton they have to go into Leigh to catch a bus to the town.

Since the guided busway was finished a lot of people have been telling us what a success it has been.

Well that article in the Journal does not make it sound like a success and generally it does not look like a success.
