A LONG time ago before ATMs, guided buses, yellow lines, roller shutters and traffic lights Tyldesley had every shop you needed.
There were gas and electricity showrooms where you could pay your respective bills, a market day on Friday which stretched across Elliott Street and a police station with officers walking the streets.
There were also three cinemas, an annual carnival and a railway station.
What happened?
Where did it all go wrong?
